Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk behandelt alle facetten van validiteit van diagnostische tests waar een fysiotherapeut mee te maken kan krijgen wanneer hij/zij een wetenschappelijk artikel leest of in de literatuur op zoek gaat naar een goede test om een klinische diagnose te stellen en/of een behandelbeslissing te nemen. Verschillende vormen van validiteit worden uitgelegd en begrippen als sensitiviteit en voorspellende waarden komen aan bod. Daarnaast worden ook begrippen als de likelihood ratio, diagnostische odds ratio en ROC-curves (receiver operator curves) uitgelegd, ook al zijn die meer van toepassing in wetenschappelijk onderzoek dan in de dagelijkse klinische praktijk.
