Validiteit van de WAIS-III-factorstructuur in een steekproef ambulante psychiatrie: de indexscores als beste getest

Samenvatting

Confirmatieve en exploratieve factoranalyses werden toegepast op de WAIS-III-data van een steekproef met 247 psychiatrische patiënten. In de exploratieve analyse op dertien subtests waarbij vier factoren werden getrokken bleek dat alle subtests laden op de vier factoren zoals verwacht werd op grond van de handleiding van de WAIS-III. Echter, Plaatjes Ordenen, Rekenen en Onvolledige Tekeningen laten matige ladingen zien op de factoren waartoe zij behoren. In de confirmatieve factoranalyse op elf subtests werden vier modellen getest. Een model waarbij de 11 subtests laden op vier factorindexen (i.c. drie Verbaal Begrip subtests, drie Perceptuele Organisatie subtests, drie Werkgeheugen subtests en twee Verwerkingssnelheid subtests) paste het beste bij de data. Enkele implicaties van de bevindingen voor de klinische praktijk worden besproken.
