Vaders. Vaders en de opvoeding en ontwikkeling van kinderen

De pedagogische betekenis van vaders

Aan de hand van veel voorkomende thema's over vaders en vaderschap in West-Europese en Amerikaanse literatuur schetsen wij in dit artikel de huidige opvattingen op dit gebied. Hierbij komen onder andere aan de orde de vraag of vaders de primaire zorg voor heel jonge kinderen kunnen hebben, de vraag of vaders en moeders inwisselbaar zijn, en de invloed van vaders op de ontwikkeling van het kind. In het algemeen zou er meer onderzoek moeten komen waarin vaders van alle sociaal-economische milieus zelf aan het woord komen en waarin de aandacht voor vader-kindinteractie niet beperkt blijft tot de vroege kindertijd.
