Samenvatting

Het aantal tumorsoorten (benigne en maligne) dat kan uitgaan van de oogleden, ogen en orbita is groot. De betrokken structuren zijn het ooglid met zijn adnexa, de traanklieren en het traanwegsysteem, de conjunctiva, het inwendige van het oog, en de orbita. Op deze plaatsen kunnen primaire tumoren ontstaan in epitheliale cellen, melanocyten, de weke delen (bindweefsel, vaten, spierweefsel, vetweefsel, perifere zenuwen, bot en kraakbeen) en het hematopoëtische en lymfoïde systeem. De meeste van deze tumoren komen echter zeer weinig voor en van vele zijn geen prevalentie- of incidentiecijfers bekend.
