56. Tumoren bij kinderen

Samenvatting

Van elke duizend pasgeborenen in Nederland krijgen er ongeveer twee kanker op de kinderleeftijd (0–18 jaar). Volgens de landelijke kankerregistratie krijgen per jaar ongeveer 475 kinderen een vorm van kanker. De volgende onderverdeling wordt gehanteerd: beenmerg- en/of lymfekliertumoren (41 %), tumoren van het zenuwstelsel (21 %), bot- en wekedelentumoren (15 %), niertumoren (5 %), levertumoren (2 %), oogtumoren (2 %) en kiemceltumoren (4 %). Onder andere de volgende tumoren worden besproken: nefroblastoom (voorheen Wilms-tumor genoemd), neuroblastoom, gonadale tumoren, waaronder kiemceltumoren, rabdomyosarcoom en hepatoblastoom.
