5. Traumatische rotatorcuffruptuur

Samenvatting

Een 63-jarige man valt op zijn arm, voelt een pijnscheut in zijn schouder en kan vervolgens de arm niet meer optillen. Bij een dergelijk trauma moet men rekening houden met een acute traumatische rotatorcuffruptuur. Rotatorcuffrupturen komen veel voor, ook zonder klachten. Een acute scheur kan echter direct grote gevolgen hebben voor de kracht en functie van de arm. Het hoofdstuk beschrijft een voorbeeldcasus, de diagnostiek, de belangrijkste rotatorcufftests, de fysiotherapeutische behandeling en de overweging of opereren zinvol is.
