Samenvatting

Er zijn wereldwijd veel verschillende vormen van traumabehandeling. In sommige vormen staat het trauma centraal, in andere wordt de aandacht meer gericht op vaardigheden met traumatische symptomen om te gaan. Voorbeelden van de eerste zijn cognitieve therapie (cgt), gericht op het blootstellen aan alle gevoelens en gedachten verbonden aan het trauma, en emdr. Voorbeelden van de tweede zijn mentalisatiebevorderende therapie (mbt), transference-focused psychotherapy (tfp), dialectische gedragstherapie (dgt), steunende psychotherapie en integratieve modellen. In principe kunnen alle vormen van psychotherapie gebruikt worden.
