Inleiding

Hoewel transcranieel Doppler-onderzoek (TCD-onderzoek) van de intracraniële arteriën in principe in veel klinieken mogelijk is, wordt dit onderzoek in de praktijk slechts mondjesmaat toegepast. In dit hoofdstuk wordt betoogd dat de inzet van TCD-onderzoek rond diagnostiek en behandeling van de carotisstenose belangrijk is en dient te worden vergroot.
