Samenvatting

De echoscopische beoordeling van de genitaliën gebeurt vaak op verzoek van de ouders omdat zij het geslacht van hun foetus willen weten. Het genitaal kan achter ook afwijkend aangelegd zijn. Een geslachtsbepaling is tevens van waarde in zwangerschappen met een verhoogd risico op een X-linked aandoening bij de foetus.
