Samenvatting

De echoscopische beoordeling van de genitaliën gebeurt vooral op verzoek van de ouders omdat zij het geslacht van hun foetus willen weten. Soms wordt in tweelingzwangerschappen een foetale geslachtsbepaling als hulpmiddel gebruikt om chorioniciteit te bepalen. Een geslachtsbepaling is tevens van waarde in zwangerschappen met een verhoogd risico op een X-linked aandoening bij de foetus.
