Introductie

Dit hoofdstuk gaat dieper in op verschillende aspecten van de heupoperatie, zoals: Wanneer is een operatie geïndiceerd? Welke typen prothesen zijn momenteel gangbaar? Wanneer gebruikt men cement? Wordt lokale of algehele anesthesie aangeraden? Welke benaderingen zijn gangbaar tijdens de operatie? Welke complicaties zijn mogelijk?

Het zijn zaken die van belang kunnen zijn voor de postoperatieve revalidatie.

Anticoagulans: een stof die de stolling van het bloed tegengaat, ook wel bloedverdunner genoemd.

Een mini-incisie is kleiner dan 10 cm en wordt toegepast in de minimaal invasieve chirurgie.
