Samenvatting

Binnen vierentwintig uur rolden via de mail de vragen bij me binnen. Deze keer niet alleen van tandartsen maar ook van een huisarts, en allemaal naar aanleiding van een door een mondhygiënist verzorgd verslag, gepubliceerd in dentaal INFO van december 2013, van een voordracht van een collega-internist tijdens het 12e VPM-congres, met als titel ‘Zin en onzin van de antibioticaprofylaxe’. Die publicatie bleek veel vragen op te roepen en veroorzaakte onrust en onzekerheid, getuige de overheersende vraag in de mails: ‘Vertel ons wat we hiermee aan moeten’. Hoewel ik niet bij dat congres betrokken was, vormen de mij gestelde vragen voldoende aanleiding om daarop voor de TP-lezers/tandartsen dieper in te gaan.
