26. Tics

Samenvatting

Tics zijn plotselinge, snelle, herhaalde, niet-ritmische motorische bewegingen of vocale uitingen. Zij behoren tot de groep der hyperkinesieën. Motorische tics komen het meest voor. Deze ziet men meestal in het gelaat (oogknipperen, grimassen, hoofdschudden), maar ze kunnen ook in armen, romp en benen voorkomen. Naast de motorische tics kent men de vocale tics, waarbij de patiënt snuift, gromt, boert of obscene woorden uit (coprolalie). Ten slotte kennen we nog de sensorische tic, waarbij een gevoelssensatie voorafgaat aan de motorische tic en de cognitieve tics, waarbij de patiënt wordt beziggehouden door ingewikkelde gedachten en gedachtespelletjes. Tics worden ingedeeld in enkelvoudige tics (zoals knipperen, snuiven) en samengestelde tics (zoals huppelpasjes, kreten uiten). De meeste tics verdwijnen weer in korte tijd. Indien tics langer dan een jaar duren en er slechts sprake is van motorische tics, spreekt men van een chronischeticstoornis.
