Samenvatting

Na cardiothoracale ingrepen kan in een selecte groep patiënten de postoperatieve opvang op een PACU plaatsvinden. Bij deze selectie dient er rekening te worden gehouden met specifieke ingreep en patiëntgebonden factoren. Voldoende inzicht in de cardiopulmonale fysiologie en de gevolgen van de cardiopulmonale bypass zijn bij de opvang van deze groep patiënten essentieel. Deze postoperatieve bewaking en opvang verloopt veelal gestandaardiseerd, waarbij er naast hemodynamische en pulmonale parameters extra aandacht is voor stollings- en temperatuurmanagement. Ondanks optimale zorg kunnen er postoperatief levensbedreigende complicaties optreden. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan nabloedingen, hemodynamische instabiliteit en ritmestoornissen. Een vroege detectie, juiste diagnostiek en snelle en adequate behandeling zijn hierbij cruciaal en levensreddend.
