Samenvatting

De behandeling van kinderen met voedingsproblemen vraagt een allround therapeut met uitstekende communicatieve vaardigheden die op subtiele manier de vaak jonge ouders, maar ook de zeer bezorgde grootouders kan adviseren en geruststellen. Dit hoofdstuk heeft als doel professionele hulpverleners richtlijnen te bieden in de behandeling van het jonge kind dat niet kan eten en drinken, door het geven van een overzicht van de meest frequente problemen in de therapie en door te verwijzen naar verschillende boeken over zuig- en eetproblemen bij kinderen, die de concrete dagelijkse therapie voor de logopedist tot in detail beschrijven (Oetter, Richter, 1988; Wolf and Glass, 1992; Winstock, 1994; McCurtin, 1997; Swigert, 1998; Earnest, 2000; Pierce, 2002).
