Inleiding

In dit hoofdstuk wordt het theoretisch kader geschetst als basis voor de volgende hoofdstukken, waarin het bekkenfysiotherapeutische onderzoek praktisch wordt beschreven. Allereerst wordt een overzicht gegeven van de functionele anatomie die relevant is voor de bekkenfysiotherapeut. Vervolgens komen de bekkenfysiotherapeutische indicaties uitgebreid aan bod. Steeds meer informatie is beschikbaar over de risicofactoren met betrekking tot bekken- en bekkenbodemproblematiek. En ten slotte komen de prevalentiecijfers van de diverse disfuncties aan de orde.
