Test Your Memory-test: een mogelijk alternatief voor de MMSE¹

Samenvatting

Steeds vaker worden cognitieve screeninginstrumenten gebruikt om snel een indruk te krijgen van het cognitief functioneren van een patiënt. Er zijn echter nauwelijks sensitieve cognitieve screeninginstrumenten voor een populatie zonder evidente cognitieve stoornissen. De Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) wordt veel gebruikt, maar heeft zijn beperkingen. De laatste jaren wordt veel onderzoek gedaan naar een alternatief instrument, een voorbeeld hiervan is de Test Your Memory-Test (TYM). Op de geheugenpoli is deze test beter in staat om cognitieve beperkingen te onderkennen dan de MMSE. In dit artikel beschrijven we onderzoek naar de testeigenschappen van de TYM in een populatie zonder dementie en vergelijken die met de MMSE.
