Terminale dehydratie

Samenvatting

Er is heel wat onduidelijkheid rond terminale dehydratie. Door een tekort aan correcte informatie bij de algemene bevolking over het wat en hoe zijn begrijpelijke emotionele reacties niet van de lucht. Maar ook deskundigen ontkomen blijkbaar niet aan de discussie. Een zorgvuldige aanpak van terminale dehydratie is van belang voor de kwaliteit van leven van de stervende zelf, en voor de rouwverwerking van de familieleden. In deze bijdrage verhelderen we de kennis over terminale dehydratie, gaan we na wat erover bekend is en stellen we een leidraad voor bij het beslissingsproces in de terminale fase.
