Samenvatting

In de toekomst kan, door de groeiende zorgvraag de zorg niet meer op de huidige manier georganiseerd worden. Technologie is een geschikt middel om de zorg toekomstbestendig te maken. Het doelgericht inzetten van technologische toepassingen verruimt mogelijkheden voor cliënten en zorgprofessionals en heeft direct invloed op het dagelijks handelen. De rol van de ergotherapeut verandert bij het zo optimaal mogelijk tot oplossingen komen in het overwegen van technologische toepassingen in dit proces. Daarnaast maken ergotherapeuten zelf meer gebruik van technologie in hun werk en werken zij steeds meer samen met andere professionals. Ook zal de ergotherapeut steeds meer deel uitmaken van het proces bij het ontwikkelen van nieuwe producten of het implementeren van bestaande technologie in de zorg, waarbij er een belangrijke rol ligt in het bewaken van de gebruiksvriendelijkheid en het matchen van het product met de mogelijkheden van de cliënt in zijn/haar omgeving. De oude rol van ‘hulpmiddelenexpert’ komt hierbij weer van pas. Technologie in de zorg is een containerbegrip, waarin vele indelingen en benamingen gehanteerd worden. Een mogelijke indeling is gebaseerd op de toepassing: als ondersteunende technologie of als zorg op afstand.
