Samenvatting

Het te korte tongriempje (partiële ankyloglossie) wordt gekenmerkt door een bijna of helemaal tot aan de tongpunt vastzittend, kort frenulum linguae. Het frenulum linguae is de slijmvliesplooi in de mediaanlijn tussen de onderkant van de tong en de mondbodem. Het te korte tongriempje is een congenitale, orale anomalie die de tongbewegingen kan belemmeren, en bij het uitsteken van de tong een inkeping kan veroorzaken (‘hartvormige’ tong). Tot op heden is er geen richtlijn om de gradatie (anatomisch of functioneel) van ankyloglossie te bepalen.
