Samenvatting

Definities van visusproblemen zijn overal verschillend, maar volgens de richt­lijnen van de Wereld Gezondheidsorganisatie heeft iemand een visusprobleem als de gezichtsscherpte minder dan 3/109 is of als het gezichtsveld minder dan 30 graden is.

Een gezichtsscherpte van 3/10 betekent dat objecten die bij een normale visus op 120 meter afstand worden waargenomen, worden pas op 3 meter afstand gezien.

Een meer uitgebreid maar inmiddels niet zo recent overzicht van gegevens met betrekking tot de taalontwikkeling van blinde kinderen is te vinden in Perez-Pereira & Conti-Ramsden (1999).
