Samenvatting

Inleiding: Door vergrijzing zal de incidentie van proximale humerusfracturen in de komende decennia waarschijnlijk sterk toenemen. Veelal zijn het kwetsbare oudere patiënten met osteoporose die deze fracturen oplopen. Ongeveer de helft van deze fracturen is gedislokeerd en wordt in toenemende mate operatief behandeld. Tot op heden is er geen consensus of operatieve behandeling tot betere resultaten leidt dan een conservatief beleid.
