Stabiliteit van persoonlijkheidskenmerken bij patiënten met een ernstige eetstoornis

Samenvatting

Gedurende 2,5 jaar zijn 146 patiënten met een ernstige eetstoornis, die klinisch of in deeltijd werden behandeld, vier keer onderzocht op persoonlijkheidskenmerken en eetsymptomen. Er was een consistent verschil in het kenmerk ‘Prikkelzoekend’ tussen de verschillende diagnostische groepen eetstoornispatiënten. Na de behandeling waren de verschillen met een normale controlegroep op de kenmerken ‘Leedvermijding’ en ‘Zelfsturing’ kleiner dan vóór de behandeling. De mate van depressiviteit was hierin een belangrijke variabele. Anorexiapatiënten met een relatief hoge mate van Zelfsturing bij aanvang van de behandeling hadden een grotere kans op herstel.
