34. Spierechografie: van techniek naar praktijk

Inleiding

Al sinds 1980 is bekend dat met spierechografie spieren in beeld kunnen worden gebracht en neuromusculaire aandoeningen opgespoord. Daarnaast kunnen met echografie ook maligniteiten, infecties, hematomen en spierrupturen in beeld worden gebracht. Met de voortschrijdende technologische ontwikkelingen is de resolutie van echografie verder verbeterd, waardoor de mogelijkheden van de techniek niet onderdoen voor die van MRI. Echografie geniet in veel gevallen zelfs de voorkeur door de ruime beschikbaarheid, de eenvoudige toepasbaarheid – vooral bij kinderen – en de mogelijkheid van dynamische weergave.
