8 Solitaire tandvervanging: implantaat of brug?

Samenvatting

Het ontbreken van één enkel gebitselement leidt tot een specifieke prothetische problematiek. Dit doet zich in het bijzonder voor in het frontgebied in de bovenkaak, waar duurzaamheid van de behandeling ook in esthetische zin belangrijk is. Als gevolg van een toegenomen gebitsbewustzijn zijn uitneembare partiële prothesen met hun inherent geringer draagcomfort tegenwoordig minder geaccepteerd en vinden patiënten esthetiek belangrijk. De patiënten zijn bovendien mondiger, gaan zelf op zoek naar informatie en wensen uitgebreide voorlichting over welke oplossingen de tandheelkunde te bieden heeft. Bij een keuze uit de toegenomen behandelingsmogelijkheden met vaste voorzieningen komen dan steeds vaker implantaten ter sprake.
