17. Slechte adem (halitose)

Samenvatting beleid

Bij klachten over slechte adem is het zinvol eerst de slechte adem te objectiveren door te ruiken. Neem een zorgvuldige anamnese af en inspecteer daarna de mondholte om een behandelbare oorzaak op te sporen. Indien u geen duidelijke oorzaak vindt, geef dan de algemene adviezen en adviseer deze na te lezen op www.thuisarts.nl/slechte-adem. Indien de algemene adviezen, goede mondhygiëne en geregeld gorgelen met antihalitose mondspoelmiddelen onvoldoende helpen, adviseer dan controle bij tandarts of mondhygiënist. Slechte adem is meestal goed te verhelpen met goede mondzorg/parodontale zorg. Bij een aangetoonde Helicobacter-infectie van de maag is Helicobacter-eradicatie aangewezen. Deel mee dat patiënten op internet allerlei therapieën tegenkomen. Indien deze niet zijn genoemd op www.thuisarts.nl zijn zij niet werkzaam.
