Sharon Lamb, Tangela Roberts and Aleksandra Plocha argue in their book Girls of Color, Sexuality, and Sex Education, that girls of color have been historically absent in studies of girls’ sexualities and sexual behavior. The authors identified this absence through a series of literature reviews of previous sexuality and sex education studies. Through their review it became clear that these studies did not use samples or programs that were representative of diversity in the United States. In an attempt to change this dynamic, their book consists of a series of studies all relating to girls of color and the interaction of societal forces with their sexuality. …
