Samenvatting

‘Elkaars taal spreken is vertrouwdheid en verbondenheid...’

Als uit Iran afkomstige behandelaar bespreek ik de moeilijkheden die ik persoonlijk heb ervaren bij de behandeling van cliënten in een voor mij vreemde, tweede taal. De problemen zijn niet alleen taaltechnisch (fonologisch, lexicaal en semantisch) van aard. Mijn talige cognitieve inspanningen konden op affectief niveau leiden tot verbreking van het contact met de emotionele ervaring van de patiënt. De therapeutisch relevante gevolgen van deze beperkingen in een tweede taal voor de overdracht en tegenoverdracht worden uiteengezet.
