Inleiding

‘Schoenmaat 37, cupje B, kom er maar bij staan’. Een medische specialist die zo een coassistente uitnodigt mee te kijken bij een operatie. Deelnemers aan een symposium over seksuele intimidatie in Groningen waren het erover eens: dit is onbehoorlijk gedrag. Toch komen dit soort vormen van seksuele intimidatie veel voor in ziekenhuizen. Zo’n 20% van de vrouwelijke coassistenten heeft wel eens te maken gehad met een dergelijk voorval. Toch worden er maar erg weinig gevallen van seksuele intimidatie officieel gemeld, terwijl een dergelijke ervaring toch wel invloed kan hebben. Sommige coassistenten voelen zich na zo’n incident angstig om alleen met een begeleider in een ruimte zitten, zijn geremd in contact of twijfelen zelfs aan hun beroepskeuze.
