Samenvatting

Schema focused therapy (SFT) is een integratieve psychotherapie die met name geschikt is voor cliënten die kampen met aan gehechtheid gerelateerde, chronische psychische stoornissen die tot dusver als moeilijk te behandelen werden beschouwd. Dit hoofdstuk gaat in op de theoretische onderbouwing van SFT, de aanpassingen die zijn gemaakt (Bernstein et al. 2007) om de therapie geschikt te maken voor de behandeling van cliënten met een antisociale persoonlijkheidsstoornis (ASPS) en enkele veelgebruikte technieken. Deze technieken lichten we kort toe en illustreren we via verbatim verslagen van cliëntgesprekken uit de praktijk. Hierbij geven we enkele tips en handvatten voor veelvoorkomende valkuilen in de behandeling van SFT bij cliënten met ASPS-problematiek. Het hoofdstuk is bedoeld om een beeld te geven van de mogelijkheden voor behandeling middels SFT in de praktijk.
