11. Rond de zwangerschap

Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk beschrijft het fundamentele belang van een gezonde leefstijl van vrouwen en mannen met kinderwens, voor een optimale start van het leven van het kind. We geven een overzicht van de huidige kennis over de invloed van leefstijl op de fertiliteit, zwangerschaps- en geboorte-uitkomsten en de verdere gezondheid van ouders en kind. In deel 1 van dit hoofdstuk beschrijven we de bijdrage van leefstijl tijdens de periconceptieperiode: tenminste 100 dagen vóór (preconceptie fase) en 100 dagen na de conceptie (vroege zwangerschap). Het tweede deel van dit hoofdstuk beschrijft de invloed van leefstijl vanaf de conceptie tot de tweede verjaardag van een kind (de eerste 1000 dagen). Hierbij betrekken we ook het perspectief van de publieke gezondheid.
