15 Respiratoire kinesitherapie bij patiënten met neuromusculaire aandoeningen

Samenvatting

Neuromusculaire aandoeningen worden gekenmerkt door een verzwakking van de respiratoire spieren. Door deze verzwakking wordt het voor patiënten met deze aandoeningen moeilijk om luchtwegsecreties te mobiliseren en op te hoesten. Perifere drainagetechnieken en het helpen ophoesten van secreties moeten daarom tijdig aan deze patiënten aangeleerd worden, zodat het risico op een pneumonie zo klein mogelijk gehouden wordt. Maar ook indien een pneumonie optreedt bij deze patiënten, blijft ademhalingskinesitherapie een hoeksteen in de behandeling om de hypersecretie te verminderen. Verschillende technieken kunnen toegepast worden: technieken om de secreties in de kleine, meer perifeer gelegen luchtwegen los te maken en te transporteren naar de grote, meer centraal gelegen luchtwegen en technieken die de patiënt helpen met het ophoesten van de secreties.
