Radiuskopfracturen en begeleidend letsel: de stand van zaken

Samenvatting

Radiuskopfracturen komen frequent voor en ontstaan na een val op de arm met de elleboog in lichte flexie en pronatie. Het letsel komt het meest voor bij patiënten in de leeftijdsgroep 45-50 jaar. Radiuskopfracturen gaan in 39% van de gevallen gepaard met klinisch relevant begeleidend letsel, zoals bandletsel, coronoideusfracturen en (osteo)chondraal letsel van het capitellum. Niet-gedislokeerde radiuskopfracturen kunnen met goed resultaat conservatief behandeld worden. De behandeling van radiuskopfracturen staat voor mason type-2- en -3-fracturen nog ter discussie. Het belang van begeleidend letsel van radiuskopfracturen wordt steeds meer erkend en de behandelend arts dient hier bij de behandeling rekening mee te houden.
