Samenvatting

Radicale prostatectomie speelt een dominante rol binnen de behandeling van het gelokaliseerd prostaatcarcinoom. Toch moet de ideale techniek voor radicale prostatectomie, zowel op oncologisch als functioneel gebied nog vastgesteld worden, waarbij de minimaal invasieve technieken moeten worden vergeleken met de open procedure. Uiteraard spelen hier ook kostenoverwegingen een prominente rol. In die context is ook de discussie over volumenormen en trainingseisen voor een dergelijke procedure in volle gang.
In dit overzichtsartikel hebben wij gepoogd een compleet overzicht te geven van de huidige stand van zaken van de radicale prostatectomie in Nederland en daarnaast een visie op de toekomst te verwoorden.
