Psychotherapeutische behandelmethoden voor borderlinepersoonlijkheidsstoornis

Een integratief perspectief

Samenvatting

Ondanks de overvloed aan literatuur over de psychotherapeutische behandeling van borderlinepathologie is er slechts weinig bekend over de verschillen en overeenkomsten tussen behandelmethoden voor borderlinepersoonlijkheidsstoornis (BPS). Potentiële verschillen en overeenkomsten zijn extra belangrijk doordat bewijs ontbreekt voor de superioriteit van één behandeling boven de andere. Dit artikel biedt een overzicht van de theorie en praktijk van bestaande psychotherapeutische behandelmethoden voor BPS en brengt overeenkomsten en verschillen tussen de specifieke behandelmethoden in kaart. De resultaten laten zien dat de overeenkomsten in formele behandelkenmerken en in het belang van therapeutische technieken in behandelmethoden voor BPS talrijker zijn dan de verschillen. We sluiten af met een integratieve interpretatie van de gevonden resultaten en aanbevelingen voor de behandeling van BPS-patiënten en voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek.
