11. Psychodynamische modellen: van Freud tot Fonagy

Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk worden de belangrijkste psychodynamische theorieën beschreven die de afgelopen jaren geformuleerd zijn over persoonlijkheid en persoonlijkheidspathologie. Psychodynamische theorieën en de ervan afgeleide concepten vervangen de DSM-persoonlijkheidsstoornissen niet. Zij geven reliëf aan het ‘etiket’ persoonlijkheidsstoornis. In de praktijk van de individuele psychodiagnostiek wordt op drie niveaus gediagnosticeerd: het descriptieve (DSM), het dimensionale (diagnostiek van persoonlijkheidstrekken en combinaties van trekken) en het structurele niveau (diagnostiek van de onderliggende structuur in termen van mate van identiteitsintegratie en rijpheid van objectrelaties en dynamiek van de persoonlijkheid). In het alternatieve model voor de diagnostiek van persoonlijkheidsstoornissen zoals opgenomen in deel III van de DSM-5 is een poging gedaan deze drie niveaus in een hybride model samen te brengen.
