Samenvatting

In Nederland overlijden jaarlijks 3.500 patiënten ten gevolge van sepsis. In 2012 heeft de Surviving Sepsis Campaign nieuwe richtlijnen gepubliceerd over sepsis. Maar in de prehospitale zorg is er nog weinig veranderd aan de zorg voor een patiënt met ernstige sepsis. De vraag speelt bijvoorbeeld of het meten van lactaat en het vroegtijdig toedienen van antibiotica verbetering geven in de overlevingskansen bij patiënten met ernstige sepsis. Door middel van een literatuuronderzoek op PubMed zijn er verscheidene reviews en onderzoeken, specifiek over deze onderzoeksvraag, opgezocht.
