Praktische toepassing en effecten van Signs of Safety – Een pilotstudie

Samenvatting

In dit onderzoek zijn de praktische toepassing en effecten in kaart gebracht van Signs of Safety (SoS), een werkwijze in de jeugdhulpverlening gericht op het terugdringen van kindermishandeling. Dit is gedaan middels (1) een kwalitatief onderzoek waarvoor semigestructureerde interviews zijn afgenomen bij zeven SoS-werkers en (2) een kwantitatief onderzoek met vragenlijstgegevens van ouders en jeugdhulpverleners van 20 families die ondersteund werden middels SoS en 20 families die reguliere jeugdhulpverlening ontvingen.

Volgens SoS-werkers hangen de ontwikkeling van een positieve samenwerkingsrelatie tussen de hulpverlener en ouders en empowerment van ouders, twee kernelementen van SoS, sterk met elkaar samen. De kwantitatieve resultaten tonen dat de inzet van SoS op korte termijn niet effectiever is dan de inzet van reguliere jeugdhulpverlening voor het reduceren van het risico op kindermishandeling en het versterken van empowerment van ouders.
