8. Postoperatieve pijn

Samenvatting

Behandeling van postoperatieve pijn is belangrijk voor optimaal herstel en het voorkomen van complicaties na chirurgie. Behandeling van pijn op de PACU verdient bijzondere aandacht. Enerzijds liggen hier patiënten na grote, complexe en vaak pijnlijke operaties, anderzijds worden hier ook kwetsbare patiënten opgenomen bij wie pijn nog grotere gevolgen kan hebben voor het herstel na een operatie. Dit hoofdstuk gaat in op de algemene fysiologie van pijn en de perioperatieve behandeling van pijn. Specifieke aandacht wordt besteed aan pijnmeting en aan pijnbehandeling na complexe chirurgie op een PACU.
