Pijnlijke gewrichten bij kinderen

Samenvatting

Gewrichtsklachten op de kinderleeftijd komen veel voor en gaan vaak spontaan binnen enkele dagen over. Aanhoudende gewrichtsklachten kunnen non-inflammatoire (groeipijn, overbelasting met of zonder skeletafwijkingen, hypermobiliteit, chronische pijn) of inflammatoire oorzaken hebben (monartritis, polyartritis, juveniele idiopathische artritis (JIA, jeugdreuma). Anamnese en lichamelijk onderzoek en een enkele laboratoriumbepaling kunnen in de meeste gevallen al snel richting geven aan een (waarschijnlijke) diagnose. Belangrijk is die aandoeningen te herkennen die snel behandeld moeten worden zoals (niet-accidenteel aangebracht) trauma, infectie, en een maligniteit. Klachten en symptomen die kunnen dienen als ‘rode vlag’ en richting geven in het beslisproces van diagnostiek, behandeling en verwijzing worden beschreven.
