Samenvatting

Peuterdiarree, of chronische niet-specifieke diarree, is een veelvoorkomende vorm van chronische diarree bij kinderen tussen de 1 en 4 jaar oud. Het wordt gekenmerkt door frequente (4–10 maal per dag), vaak waterdunne ontlasting met onverteerde voedingsresten, die geruime tijd (> 4 weken) aanhoudt bij een verder gezond kind. Er is geen sprake van algemeen ziek-zijn of gewichtsverlies (failure to thrive). Peuterdiarree valt onder de groep functionele gastro-intestinale ziekten (functional gastrointestinal disorders, FIGDs).
