Persoonlijkheidsstoornissen bij adolescenten

Samenvatting

Persoonlijkheidsstoornissen kunnen betrouwbaar gediagnosticeerd worden bij adolescenten. In de klinische praktijk lijkt er echter nog veel weerstand te bestaan tegen de diagnose persoonlijkheidsstoornis bij een adolescent. Met dit artikel willen we de discussie over dit onderwerp stimuleren.

Aan de hand van een casus illustreren we een diagnostisch proces bij vermoeden van persoonlijkheidspathologie. Dat leidt tot een dynamisch-diagnostische formulering, waarin we de interactie tussen ontwikkelingsgeschiedenis, persoonlijkheidsstoornis, omgeving en ontwikkelingsfase proberen aan te tonen.

Bij de dynamische formulering wordt geprobeerd een verband te formuleren tussen de symptomen en de mentale toestanden die ermee verweven zijn. Dynamisch wordt dan bedoeld in de zin van veranderlijk. Met ‘dynamisch’ verwijzen wij niet naar de methode-Eurelings.
