7. Perioperatieve zorg

Samenvatting

Perioperatieve geneeskunde omvat de geïntegreerde, multidisciplinaire zorg voor patiënten vanaf de besluitvorming voor een operatie tot aan het volledig herstel postoperatief. Door een ouder wordende populatie en het daaraan gerelateerde groeiend aantal fragiele patiënten met meerdere comorbiditeiten wordt goede perioperatieve zorg steeds belangrijker. Hierbij moet de patiënt niet alleen traditioneel anesthesiologisch en chirurgisch worden benaderd in de perioperatieve periode, maar zijn ook leefstijlinterventies (fysieke activiteit, fysieke training, voedingsondersteuning, psychologische ondersteuning, stoppen met roken en/of alcohol), pijnmanagement en comorbiditeitmanagement (bijvoorbeeld de behandeling van (de oorzaak van) anemie) belangrijk. Om goede perioperatieve zorg te leveren, is een goed begrip nodig van de fysiologische effecten van chirurgie. In dit hoofdstuk wordt onder andere ingegaan op de fysiologische aspecten rondom een operatie, risicofactoren voor perioperatieve complicaties en preoperatief, peroperatief en postoperatief management.
