Pathologie van coronaire atherotrombose

Abstract

Atherosclerose is een ziekte die zich manifesteert in de intima van grote (aorta) en middelgrote arteriën (het kaliber van de a. coronaria) in de vorm van focaal verheven laesies, de atherosclerotische plaques. Deze plaques bestaan uit een kern van lipidenrijk debris (atheroom) en kalk, omgeven door een fibreuze kap van collageenrijk bindweefsel en cellen, die bedekt wordt door een laag endotheel.
