Veel onderzoek is gedaan om erachter te komen waarom de ene vrouw in de zwangerschap bekkeninstabiliteit krijgt en de andere niet. Veel heeft dat onderzoek tot nu toe niet opgeleverd (zie ook hoofdstuk 5).
