Paramedische zorg voor patiënten met reumatoïde artritis

Resultaten uit het project PACK

Samenvatting

In deze bijdrage wordt verhelderd wat paramedische zorg op diverse terreinen kan bieden aan patiënten met reumatoïde artritis. Het niveau van wetenschappelijke onderbouwing en de bewijskracht voor de inzet van de verschillende paramedische interventies loopt sterk uiteen. Er is voldoende bewijs voor de effectiviteit van informeren en adviseren, zelfmanagement en bewegen, zelfstandig functioneren en participatie door fysiotherapie, oefentherapie Cesar, oefentherapie Mensendieck en ergotherapie. De wetenschappelijke onderbouwing voor het behandelen van de voetproblematiek, de voeding en de mondzorg (podotherapie, diëtetiek en mondhygiëne) is beperkt. De gepubliceerde onderzoeken geven wel ondersteuning voor het handelen in de praktijk. Een kwaliteitsverbetering van toekomstig onderzoek kan leiden tot een betere onderbouwing en meer bewijs voor de effectiviteit van de genoemde paramedische interventies bij de behandeling van patiënten met reumatoïde artritis. Op basis van consensus is vastgesteld bij welke klachten of problemen ondersteuning door paramedici kan worden overwogen. Dit is in figuur 1 weergegeven.
