18. Overzicht implantaatsystemen

Abstract

Wanneer bij edentate patiënten implantaatgedragen prothesen worden geplaatst, verbetert, voornamelijk in de mandibula, de gezondheidsgerelateerde kwaliteit van leven in belangrijke mate. Aanvankelijk werden implantaten geplaatst in de tandeloze mandibula voor een verbetering van de retentie en stabiliteit van de gebitsprothese. Dankzij nieuwe inzichten in het osseo-integratieproces en nieuwe materiaalkundige ontwikkelingen heeft het indicatiegebied voor het plaatsen van implantaten zich sindsdien echter sterk uitgebreid
