Samenvatting

Het Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support-protocol en de voorloper hiervan, het Advanced Trauma Life Support, zijn zo goed mogelijk op elkaar afgestemd. Door de invoering van de protocollen in Nederland in de jaren negentig hebben zich belangrijke veranderingen voorgedaan in de wijze waarop patiënten naar het ziekenhuis getransporteerd worden. Er blijven echter momenten in de opvang en behandeling die regelmatig problemen geven.
