Samenvatting

Overbelastingsblessures komen frequent voor in de sport. Ze ontstaan meestal geleidelijk door een opeenstapeling van microbeschadigingen waarbij diverse intrinsieke en extrinsieke risicofactoren een rol spelen. Verschillende musculoskeletale structuren kunnen zijn aangedaan. Klinisch worden ze gekenmerkt door geleidelijk progressieve (belastingsafhankelijke) pijn en verminderde functie. Aanpassen van de specifiek provocerende belasting, bijsturen van andere risicofactoren en verbeteren van de belastbaarheid dragen bij aan herstel.
