Over psychoanalytische psychotherapie bij senioren

Samenvatting

Psychoanalytische psychotherapie bij ouderen is niet alleen een kwestie van leeftijd, maar ook van thematiek. Op diverse levensgebieden vindt ingrijpende veranderingen plaats, en deze vragen om een aanpassing van de techniek van de psychotherapie: de psychodynamiek is anders, de overdracht en de tegenoverdracht, speciaal de gerontofobie, zijn gecompliceerder bij de oudere mens en de motivatie voor ouderen om in psychotherapie te gaan, verschilt van die van jongere volwassenen.

De aanpassing van de techniek is gebaseerd op de recente inzichten in de ontwikkelingsfasen op oudere leeftijd. Naast een overzicht van de verschillende vormen van psychotherapie bij ouderen wordt er aandacht besteed aan de maatschappelijke en economische voordelen van een geslaagde psychotherapie.
